The Gidus Brothers Complete the 107th Boston Marathon Together



*Gidus Brothers’ Note: Prior to running the Boston Marathon, the Gidus Brothers carried out research that led them to believe three brothers had never qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon together. However, in a letter to the editor of the Orlando Sentinel published several weeks after the marathon, it was pointed out that four brothers, one of whom resides in Central Florida, completed the Boston Marathon in 2000.

A historic event will take place when brothers Paul, Stephen and Jim Gidus run together in the Boston Marathon, setting the precedent for three brothers running together in one of the most prestigious races.*

The brothers grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio and relocated to Central Florida as young adults.

    Began running cross-country and playing tennis in sophomore year of high school
  • Became #4 runner out of approximately 15 runners in sophomore year of high school
  • 1981-82 ran cross-country for Kent State University, Ashtabula Campus
  • Became #2 runner in the first year at KSU, Ashtabula Campus and #1 runner in the second year by training 1 ½ hours per day
  • 1981-83 completed approximately 15-20 road races in addition to college running with 4-5 hours of intense training including martial arts, jump roping, swimming and a 10-mile run at a 6:00 pace
